Please Support Didi!

I support Didi on Patreon, and get a commission every month from my support tier.  (I found that I was begin 9 commissions from her a year ANYWAY, so moving to 12/year was easy.  But you don't have to support at that level, even $1 to an artist really does help. I know not everyone has anything to spare, and that's perfectly fine.  But a $1 from one person doesn't sound like much, but 500 people doing that is a bunch. I'm fortunate that I have a bit to spare, so I support more than a few artists on Patreon.

One of my metrics is "what do I get for it".  I don't mean Patreon exclusives, I mean ART.  Most of the artists I support there is a clear line, before Patreon and after Patreon.  Before, they put out things every once in awhile.  After patreon, they're sharing a LOT of work, because Patreon gives them time to create things.  Without Patreon a lot of artists would have to take a job (or a second job) and then not have as much time for art.

I don't like art tied up in a special box, or hidden away.  So I tend to support artists that I see patreon encouraging them to share more art (sometimes yes at a lower resolution, or not sharing the un-censored version of a NSFW bit -- but they ARE sharing to the world.

I think Didi has been PERFECT at that, and is quite generous.  She also shares a lot of process videos, and other stuff.  Not to mention nice little graphics thanking us each month.  A long way of saying, if you like her art, please support her.

And yes, I probably should just cut and paste that every month, but I write a new one EACH TIME, because I want it to be what it is, and authentic ask for people who can afford it (i know not everyone can!) to think about sending a bit her way.  Or really, any other artist.  It's a way to encourage the world to be filled with more art, and the world can always use more art!

Pitch over, you can start reading again!

I'm WAY behind at posting things, basically because I've been a bit overloaded w/ work and freelance.  But here's one of my commissions: Supergirl enjoying the Summer.

This demonstrates all the reasons I love Didi.  It's just a great good-girl art image.   (If you were a Patreon, you'd get to see the NSFW variant. HINT.)  I love Supergirl's eyes.   The hat is an great touch.  SG doesn't NEED a hat, but it's part of the art of appearing human.  Also, Boobs. :-)

I really do love getting super-heroes out of costume, or doing ordinary things.  They don't spend all their time in costume fighting crime, and I love the mix of the fantastic and the ordinary.  That's why I love this. ;-)

Next from Didi: (well I posted the technically next one, the Birthday Summer She-Hulk, but this is the Next one for October):  Tigra.  I figure it'll be a bit Halloweeny since she showed up in some horror mags first.  Not sure about November's yet.  I should probably figure that out (I try to stay a month ahead.)

Commissions:

I've been pretty lax this last year.  I'm going to do better next year.  For one, I'm freelancing a lot, and I take a % of my freelance money and shove it toward art.  Two, I do have a line in my budget for art, and I've been slowly building it over the last year, so I need to spend it. ;-)  Also, I'd forgotten how FUN commissioning was, and really that's the entire point.

Only counting recent commissions where i've already paid (any commission you've not paid for, is in a nebulous land of "sometime", and I don't count them).  I currently have three new ones outstanding, and one that I pre-ordered for a convention on Saturday.  I'll probably pick up more commissions at the convention.  If I remember to ask if I can share them, I'll post those here too.

Of the three, one I expect to take awhile (the artist was moving, so some delay is expected).  But she's worth the wait.  One I just commissioned this morning and I've already got a pre-lim sketch (I wasn't expecting that until the weekend).    The last one, should come relatively quickly I think.

Of the 3, 2 are new artists to me.

Yes, there are more than a few LONG TERM outstanding commissions.  But I've given up on them.  I don't know if I'll ever ping the artists again and say "uh hey!".  Two of them are now "missing" (haven't logged into DA in awhile, did not respond to email.  So I REALLY hope they're ok.)  The rest, they seem to all be good people that got sidetracked.  There's only so much I'm going to hound someone.  If you are an artist and owe me something for > 1 year, honestly, finish it, don't finish it, whatever.  BUT KEEP CREATING ART.  At this point, don't write me about it either.  Either a) let it go or b) send me the art. I don't want to hear "it's coming" (again).  And I'm not singling any one out (as I've heard from multiples of them, at various times.)

(if we've not exchanged money for it, then you can't possibly be late. I do have a long standing "i'd like to see this" open with an artist who is BURIED.  That doesn't count.)

Convention Pitch

If you are going to be at the Cincinnati Expo, Akron Comic Con, or Gem City, I'm going to be at all of them (and maybe next years Lexington comic con).  If you are an artist and want to pre-sell a commission, shoot me a note. If you just want to try to say "hi" in person, let me know.
