Description

Art and characters by hoppers13  My very first page commission!

Please go visit his page and let him know what you think.  (and look around his Gallery!)

You can read all about the characters with links to more information on his page: hoppers13.deviantart.com/art/W…

But I'll give the TL;DR read version here.  WunderrGirl was given a serum by her boyfriend WunderrBoy to duplicate his powers.  His powers are constant.  She can use them at a higher rate, but using them to an extreme drains them out for the rest of the day.  This means she ends up being quite a bit stronger than he is, but only for a few hours every day. (That's him going "Shit!" there at the end.)

Here they are testing her strength, and they find out that she's really so far beyond what they expected that not only is she beyond the test, she accidentally sends it into orbit without trying very hard.

As someone who has looked around my gallery, you'll be able to spot my contribution to this piece. ;-)   But these are all Hopper13's characters, and he set all this up, including the dialog. I just couched the setup of a strength test that she exceeds.   He added the glorious 'pushed it into orbit' bit.  FANTASTIC.

"This thing doesn't feel heavy at all!".  ^_^  Though I think "Shit!" might be my favorite line of dialog.

This all came about because I was going through his gallery, and realized that over the years I had encountered some of it before, and loved it.  He's got a range of styles, and loads of artwork.  Even his quick sketches are awesome.  I love seeing beautiful women doing impossible strength feats, and he's got quite a few of those.  I encourage people to go over and look through his gallery.  Just a wonderful mix of images.

But, I'd noticed that he'd not been posting too much, and his mention of commissions was a few years old.  But, I just LOVED his work.  So I send him my typical over the top fanboy letter, because being a geek means openly and honestly loving things.  And I asked if he still was doing commissions.   He hadn't taken any in awhile, and he's not working as an artist, and time was short.  But he WANTED to draw something.  So told me to wait a bit, and he'd get back.   (Waiting, I can DO waiting.  Patient I am.)

So, he came back with some prices and ideas, and pitched the idea that a strength test like I wanted would be better if it was dynamic, and had action. That is a page would show things better.  I agreed.  And we talked a bit about who/what where and he said he'd give me a price break for using his OCs as he wanted to flesh them out and start thinking about a book.

Well, if you've read a few of my journals and my comments on art, I'm a sucker for this kind of thing.  I commission so there is MORE ART.  And this looked like a great way to get an artist I like making MORE ART and thinking of making even MORE ART.  Plus, after looking through his entire gallery, HELL YEAH!  I also view commissions as a bit of a Thanks!  Yes, I want MY commission, but I'm also thanking the artist for everything else they've created and freely shared.  (I use tip jars too, sometimes, when I notice them.)

So, while I love seeing my favorite characters doing things, I also don't mind new characters and setups.  And things like this?  I'd have clicked FAVORITE on this and left a nice note IMMEDIATELY.

So I was totally up for his OCs and the general parameters.  And I'm completely happy with the end work, because this is my sort of thing. What I'm TOTALLY ESCTATiC about is that he's now posting regularly, and has some sample pages and artwork of MeteorWoman up.

Now this did take awhile, but this is one of those things where I was TOLD it would take awhile and was told that BEFORE I sent any money. I'm absolutely happy with how everything came out.  And that said, I got the sample sketch page SUPER SUPER FAST.  And, the final page came in FASTER than was promised.  And in the meantime, he posted a LOT of new things, and sent me plenty of updates.  So, in my parlance, this was a fantastic commission, done on time, and had great communication.  Really enjoyed working with him, and I'd suggest anyone else who values the finished quality over getting something in a week or two to commission him.

I'm not entire sure if this was a benefit of Rule 2 in action, but it certainly seems that way.  The three rules of commissioning:

Rule 0: Have Fun.
Rule 1: Only commissions artists you like their work.
Rule 2: Always tell the artists what you think about their work.

By Following Rule 2, I've gotten several really touching letters and comments back from artists.  I do it because it's who I am, and how I view the world.  But the notes and feedback that comes back are quite touching too.  In this case, it certainly seems that I reminded a great artist that yes, he should be creating things, and there are people out here who love what he does.  All things he wanted to be doing anyway, I just provided a bit of a nudge in the right direction.

So, when I say "Please go check out his stuff', PLEASE go check out his stuff and leave some nice comments.  Honestly, this is a nice sample of his work, but he's got loads of nice things, various body types (and this too is refreshing to see), heroes you are familiar with (a nice series of Power Girl images!), etc.

I think it's well worth your time to check him out, AND, if you like some things there, PLEASE COMMENT.  (Honestly, it's quite fun.  Doubly so if you take a moment to say something about WHY you love it.  Just today, an artist made a new followup image totally based on a comment I made.)

And you can comment here, I love to hear about how people like what I commission, or comments in general -- but if you went and commented on his, I'd be extra special happy.

even 60,000 x 2000 lbs( 1 ton) doesn't even cause her to drop a sweat....maybe a 3rd grader version of her will struggle somewhat.
