I commissioned this at the Cincinnati Comic Expo Saturday 20, 2014.  Posting with permission from the artist.

I'm going to have to update my journal so that I have an overall talk about the expo. (TL;DR: it was really fun, and I had a great time.  I like it better than the Ohio Comic-Con in Columbus for the last several years. So I'm going track to this con next year too. I might try the other con in cincy next year too.)

Cincinnati Comic Expo Sept 19-21I'm going to be at the Cincinnati Comic Expo tomorrow/today on Saturday September 20th.
If you're around and want to say hello, shoot me a note or make a comment here.  Unless the wifi is horrible there, I'll be checking in throughout the day on my phone.
If you're an artist there doing commissions, let me know where you are at, and I'll swing by and say hello and maybe commissions something.  I do have a budget, and I'll be slightly miffed if I don't spend it all.  (OTH, if I don't, that means that tomorrow I'll be in the same boat as last year from the Ohio Comic Con, where I was looking to celebrate my birthday, and didn't find enough to commission.  So I came back home and started my year long escaped of commissioning here.  So artists I've commissioned?  Thank Wizard World for not attracting enough artists to the Ohio Comic Con and charging too much for tables that artists don't come there anymore!  They're what started it all. (Everyone els

So I'll limit this to just talking about the Artist.  Chistopher Jones was really fun to talk to. He worked my commission in, and got it done right before the show ended for the day, as I was only there for Saturday.  He didn't have to do this, and he was gracious and open the entire time.  Very approachable and fun to talk to.  (All the artists I talked to were there to talk to the fans and were enjoyable to talk to.)

We talked a bit about Young Justice, he did the comic based on the Cartoon for DC.  We're both sad that it's off the air.  (A Shame is what it is!)

And we talked a bit about Wonder Woman and Cassie, since I wanted a commission of her.  I left this open to him, I figured he do something great.  When I came back and saw this I was EXTRMELY happy, as we started a conversation about how Wonder Woman and Cassie are usually drawn with their lassos, sometimes using their braces to stop bullets, and then in a lot of "she is really pretty poses".  (I am guilty of commissioning these too.)  But we talked about how they are powerhouses, and they should be regularly drawn showing that.

And that led him into drawing Cassie busting down a wall.  And As I said, I LOVE getting images of strong women using their strength.  (it's like he read my mind!)

He had a lot of great prints for sale -- i've just been staying away from prints because I always fail to hang them.  With art, it goes in my portfolio, and I scan it.  And then I share it here for others to see and appreciate.  And I view it on my computer and iPad all the time.  I like there being new art in the world too.

But he had some Dr. Who themed prints that were fantastic.  (Craig Ferguson as the Doctor and the Geoff Peterson as Davros.). I saw several prints that tempted me ... and none more than at his booth.  (Thom Zhaler making sure that John Hurt's doctor was put in the right place was another.)

For those keeping score, I've had three artists approve of posting work, so I'll be putting those up over the next few days.  One I'm getting colored by the artist, I'll probably post it and then post the colors.  Maybe.  We'll see what the timing is.

maybe there can be some Doctor Who / strong female theme somehow.  Seems like you like them both. Which Doctor might accept them the most...well, There is Tom Baker and Leela.  But I think the David Tennet and Matt Smith would be OK with them too.
