Description

Art by Sean Forney (:iconseanforney:)
I commissioned this Saturday September 20th, at the Cincinnati Comic Expo.  I posting with the permission of the artist.  I also commissioned him to color it, which is great (I love getting the original artist to color their works, doubly so when they are good at it).

I think you'll have a fun time going through his Gallery.

For what I thought about the Cincinnati Comic Expo, you can read my journal (it also collects the art that I commissioned there.)

Cincinnati Comic Expo Sept 19-21Edit: it's all changed because I'm going to talk about the expo instead of that I am going to be there.
I went to the expo on Saturday September 20th.  My plan was to spend a chunk of my bonus for switching jobs to celebrate that -and- to finish celebrating my birthday.  Yes, I buy myself art for my birthday.  I bought a lot off DA for my birthday, you can read about it (and the other art I saw that day on DA) in my journal:

I'm not sure I've spent all that I had budgeted, but don't worry, I think I've already sent it out to artists on DA.  (I have to do the budget, but i've been busy.)
the TL;DR; is that I had a GREAT time at this convention.
I enjoyed it more than I have Ohio-Comic Con in Columbus over the last few years (so I'm going to compare this Con to Ohio Comic Con, as I think that is a bit fair and will show you why I enjoyed it so much).  It seemed that last year at Ohio Comic Con, I heard from a bunch of artists "I d

Sean was really approachable and friendly.  I chatted with him a bit, and then I commissioned this and I moved on and never really got back to talk with him longer.  I'll have to catch up with him again at Ohio Comic-Con (if I go this year). But he made sure he knew what I wanted, and took some notes.  It was all nice and easy.  Really, if you've ever wondering what the commission process is like at a convention it's just wandering up to an artist's table -- finding out how free their commission queue is, and then talking to them about what you want.  I've never had a problem, and this was no exception.

I also like that most artists have square card readers and so can take credit cards.  If only venues had good working WiFI....

I'm really happy with this too, it fits right in with what I wanted.  I like her build -- and of course I forgot to mention lightning around
Mjölnir, but Sean did an excellent job of giving me what I forgot to ask for! ;-)

Mostly I'm commissioning my standard comic book fair, but I've commissioned She-Ra before, and likely I'll do so again.  But in this case Sean had some Masters of the Universe art in his book which sparked me to think of She-Ra.  And the recent hullabaloo about the female Thor has me thinking of her with his hammer.   After all we don't know if it's not her, right. ;-)

Well that and luvfemuscle made this and it put the idea in my noggin.  So I hope he likes it. ;-)

You almost foreshadowed Hela's arrival in Thor: Ragnarok.
